John Hunt was born in Altus, Oklahoma, but grew up in Southern California. He started playing electric guitar at age ten, often joining his piano-playing cousin in family jam sessions. When asked why he picked music for a career John is quick to say, "Music picked me. It's the only thing I've ever wanted to do." As the band's reigning guitar veteran, John has toured with Rocky Burnette, Melissa Manchester, Dee Dee Bridgewater, and Engelbert Humperdinck. He's also contributed much in the studio, notably on Burnette's "son of Rock 'N' Roll" album, and Juice Newton's "Well Kept Secret" album. Having successfully played music of various genres from jazz and R&B, to rock, country, blues, and metal, John gravitates to blues rock and jazz. Cream showed him early on how heavy rock can have a successful blusey side. Clapton's tone, phrasing and vibrato continue to be influences for John to this day.
